Bilawal Bhutto Vows to Defend Pakistan Against Indian Aggression, Warns Against Threats to Indus River

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Pakistan has defeated India in war before and will do so again if forced, vowing that the nation will never bow or retreat in the face of aggression.

Speaking at a ceremony in Bhit Shah, Bilawal said the people of Pakistan have the strength not only to fight India in war but also to reclaim six rivers. He stressed that Pakistan did not initiate conflict, rather India imposed war on the country — a war that Pakistan fought collectively, handing India a humiliating defeat.

The PPP chairman said that during past hostilities, all political parties set aside differences to defend the country, the youth countered India on social media, and the armed forces gave a historic response.

Referring to recent tensions, Bilawal accused India of launching another “cowardly attack” — this time on the River Indus — calling it the largest assault on Sindh under the Indus Waters Treaty. He said India cannot unilaterally terminate the treaty and warned that any attempt to block Sindh’s waters or build dams would be seen as a direct attack on Pakistan’s heritage, history, and culture.

“When India threatens the Indus, it is attacking our civilization, history, and identity,” he said, adding that even many Indians oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision.

The former foreign minister recalled that when war broke out, he pledged to expose Modi before the world — and succeeded. “We presented Pakistan’s case globally, from the United States to Europe, and raised our voice against India’s assault on the Indus,” he said.

Bilawal urged unity in resisting Modi’s “oppression” and protecting the Indus, calling on the nation to struggle collectively to stop any such aggression.

Earlier, Bilawal attended the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, where he was received by Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and participated in an awards ceremony marking the occasion.
