QUETTA: On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, Balochistan Chief Minister has approved a 60-day reduction in the sentences of prisoners.
According to provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind, a notification has been issued granting the special remission to all convicted prisoners, except those involved in serious crimes. The concession will not apply to inmates convicted of offences against state security, terrorism, or other grave crimes. Prisoners who have already received special pardons earlier this year will also be ineligible.
The decision aims to allow prisoners and their families to share in the joy of Independence Day celebrations.
