Balochistan Will Always Stand with Pakistan, We Will Defeat Terror Together: CM Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that Pakistan’s Independence Day is a reminder of the great sacrifices made by the nation’s forefathers, and this year’s celebration carries special significance as the country defeated an enemy “seven times stronger” through courage and determination.

Addressing the 78th Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at the Provincial Assembly lawns, the CM praised the valour of Pakistan’s armed forces, saying their victory is a source of pride for the entire nation. He extended gratitude on behalf of the people of Balochistan to the Pakistan Army, especially Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their leadership, vision, and unity.

Bugti stressed that the triumph was a symbol of national unity and recalled that Balochistan has always stood firm in difficult times. “From Gwadar to Zhob, the people of Balochistan celebrated Independence Day with zeal, proving this is a living nation that cherishes its traditions,” he said.

He strongly condemned a “small group of terrorists” for targeting innocent civilians, women, and children, terming such acts a violation of Baloch traditions and tribal values. He cited incidents where terrorists brutally killed men in front of their families, calling it “a false notion of sparing women and children.”

The CM urged Parliament, religious scholars, and all segments of society to take leadership in the fight against terrorism. He expressed confidence that the end of militancy in Balochistan is near, as sacrifices by the armed forces, police, and law enforcement agencies will soon restore lasting peace.

At the ceremony’s conclusion, Bugti congratulated Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and the organising team for hosting a successful event and announced a cash reward of Rs 500,000 for schoolchildren who performed. He mingled with attendees, posed for photos with children, and exchanged Independence Day greetings with dignitaries.
