ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level meeting on the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center project, where Chinese firm HONGKONG-AOHUA presented the hospital’s concept design. The company prepared the design free of charge as a goodwill gesture to Pakistan.
Briefing the participants, officials noted that HONGKONG-AOHUA has designed over 1,000 hospitals worldwide during the past three decades. Its voluntary contribution of an international-standard design for Pakistan reflects the depth of Pak-China friendship and people-to-people ties.
The Prime Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to the company’s leadership and team, stating that the gift holds great significance not only for the government and people of Pakistan but also for future patients who will benefit from the hospital. He reiterated his commitment to developing Jinnah Medical Complex as a world-class tertiary care facility.
Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to conduct a thorough technical review of the design and ensure the integration of digitalization and artificial intelligence in the project. He welcomed the inclusion of pandemic preparedness features in the concept, describing them as forward-looking and essential.
The Prime Minister emphasized that environmental protection, water conservation, and efficient use of resources must be central to the project. He appreciated the design’s focus on solar energy, natural lighting, water recycling, and green spaces.
He also instructed that the Jinnah Medical Complex be digitally connected with other hospitals in Islamabad and urged that construction be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Health Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, PM’s Coordinator Musharraf Zaidi, Chairman of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Dr. Saeed Akhtar, HONGKONG-AOHUA CEO Dr. Liu Zhanpei, along with senior officials.
