RTA Suspends Permits After Secret Compartments Found in Quetta Buses

Authorities in Quetta discovered secret compartments in two passenger buses during a surprise inspection on Western Bypass near Jabal Noor.

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) team, along with traffic police, conducted the operation under the directives of the 18th Apex Committee meeting. Officials carried out a detailed inspection of long-route passenger buses.

RTA Secretary Zahoor Baloch confirmed that the operation specifically targeted illegal storage boxes and hidden compartments inside public service vehicles. He said the inspection aimed to enhance passenger safety and stop unlawful practices.

During the checking, inspectors found secret compartments installed inside two buses. The RTA immediately sent a report to the Provincial Transport Authority of Balochistan, recommending suspension of the route permits of the involved vehicles.

The owners of both buses were issued strict warnings. They were also ordered to remove the hidden compartments without delay. Zahoor Baloch stressed that any violation in the future would result in confiscation of the vehicles and legal action against their owners.

He warned that hidden compartments are not only illegal but also pose a serious threat to the lives and property of passengers.

The secretary added that such operations will continue regularly. He assured that the RTA and law enforcement agencies will not allow public service vehicles to operate with concealed storage areas.
