Tremors Felt Across Pakistan as 5.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes

Strong tremors were felt in several parts of Pakistan on Monday, prompting residents to rush out of their homes and buildings in panic.

According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt in Islamabad as well as Punjab’s major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Mandi Bahauddin, Sarai Alamgir, and Sargodha. Tremors were also reported in Daska, Chakwal, Choa Saidan Shah, Kallar Syedan, and Safdarabad.

The quake shook areas of Kallar Kahar, Gujrat, Kharian, Gujar Khan, Phalia, and Khanqah Dogran. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strong tremors were felt in Charsadda, Swat, Dir, Buner, and Kohat. Residents of Mardan, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, and nearby districts also reported jolts.

Tremors extended to Nowshera, Khyber, Landi Kotal, North Waziristan, Miranshah, and Hangu. In Azad Kashmir, including Mirpur and adjoining areas, the quake was strongly felt. Meanwhile, reports also confirmed tremors in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Ghizer and surrounding regions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Seismological Centre confirmed the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale.
