Islamabad: The federal government on Sunday announced that the price of petrol will remain unchanged for the next fortnight, while the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs3 per litre.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the price of petrol will stay at Rs264.61 per litre, whereas HSD will now cost Rs269.99 per litre.
Meanwhile, the government has also lowered the prices of other petroleum products. Superior kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs1.46 per litre, and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs2.40 per litre.Petrol is the most widely used fuel in private transport and small vehicles, while HSD is extensively consumed in heavy transport, agriculture, and industry.
Analysts believe the cut in diesel, kerosene, and LDO prices will provide partial relief to transporters and rural households, though the unchanged petrol rate may continue to burden individual consumers.
The new prices will remain effective for the first fortnight of September.
