Quetta, Balochistan – The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Balochistan has announced the launch of a seven-day polio vaccination campaign across 26 districts starting September 1, 2025. The campaign aims to vaccinate more than 2.17 million children under five against polio.
EOC Coordinator Inam-ul-Haq stated that the campaign covers districts including Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Chaman, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Hub, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Killa Saifullah, Loralai, Mastung, Noshki, Naseerabad, Sherani, Sibi, Sohbatpur, Usta Muhammad, Zhob, Musakhel, Chagai, Dukki, Lasbela, and Ziarat.
He emphasized that the campaign is a critical step in the ongoing fight against polio virus. “Parents must ensure their children receive the vaccine, as polio can cause permanent disability,” he warned.
The campaign is supported by 8,933 vaccination teams, including 652 fixed teams and 459 transit teams, which will operate in both urban and remote areas. Inam-ul-Haq said the campaign’s success depends on active public cooperation.
He urged civil society members, teachers, and religious leaders to raise awareness and encourage parents to vaccinate their children. In addition to polio drops, he reminded parents of the importance of routine immunizations protecting children from 12 deadly diseases such as measles, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and diphtheria.
“In safeguarding children’s health, we all share a collective responsibility. Even a single child missing polio drops can put all children at risk,” he added.
