Beijing: China expressed deep sorrow over the deadly floods that struck Pakistan. Heavy rains in multiple regions caused loss of lives and extensive property damage. The disaster left thousands affected.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the situation in a press briefing on Monday. She said, “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. We also sympathize with the injured and all affected families.”
She added that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a message of condolence to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar. The message expressed China’s support and solidarity with the people of Pakistan during this challenging time.
Mao Ning emphasized China’s confidence in Pakistan’s resilience. “We believe that the Pakistani people will overcome this disaster. They will rebuild their homes and restore normal life,” she said.
The spokesperson also noted that, so far, no Chinese nationals have been reported dead or injured in the floods. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to confirm updates and offer assistance if needed.
China’s response highlights the strong diplomatic ties between the two countries. Officials reiterated that they stand ready to assist Pakistan in relief and recovery efforts.
As Pakistan faces continued heavy rainfall, authorities are working to provide aid and protect affected communities. Rescue operations are underway in the hardest-hit areas. International support, including China’s condolences and assistance, aims to help Pakistan recover from the disaster quickly.
