Asian Championship Gold Medalist Syed Bilal Arrives in Quetta

Asian Championship gold medalist Syed Bilal arrived in Quetta after his recent victory. He was welcomed at the airport by representatives of the sports department, his family, and close friends.

Speaking to the media, Bilal said the achievement was not his alone but a victory for the entire nation. He added that his opponents in the tournament included strong athletes from India and other countries.

Bilal expressed disappointment over the low-key reception in Quetta. He compared it with Karachi, where, according to him, champions receive a grand welcome.

The athlete stressed that winning medals requires years of hard work and sacrifice. He highlighted that Balochistan also has immense sports talent, citing Shahzaib Rind as an example.

Bilal lamented the lack of government support for athletes. He said players often feel discouraged when authorities fail to sponsor or back them. He admitted he does not have enough sponsors to continue competing in international tournaments.

He urged the sports department to take responsibility for nurturing and supporting athletes. He warned that without backing, it will be difficult for him to participate in future championships.

Bilal also revealed that the other four Pakistani winners of the championship received grand receptions. He said he dedicates his medals to his father, who is currently suffering from paralysis.

Despite challenges, Bilal expressed hope to play more international tournaments. However, he stressed that proper financial and institutional support is necessary for athletes to succeed at the global level.
