A police officer lost his life while two others were injured when a squad vehicle of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan met with a road accident in Jaffarabad on Sunday.
According to police sources, the vehicle was part of the security convoy of Director General PDMA Balochistan, Jahanzeb Khan. The incident took place near Jaffarabad when the squad vehicle reportedly lost control and overturned.
Rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after the accident. One police officer was pronounced dead on the scene, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding or a mechanical fault could be possible reasons, but officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause.
The tragic incident has raised concerns over road safety, especially for security convoys frequently traveling in flood-prone and disaster-affected districts of Balochistan. Local officials and police have expressed condolences to the family of the deceased officer and assured full support to the injured personnel.
