Quetta: Patients visiting the Civil Hospital’s Department of Medicine in Quetta are facing severe difficulties due to a shortage of essential medicines. Many are reportedly wandering the hospital with doctors’ prescriptions in hand, unable to obtain even basic drugs.
According to doctors, the provincial health department has failed to provide routine medications despite repeated assurances. “Government claims of ensuring medicine availability remain unfulfilled, forcing patients to buy medicines from private pharmacies,” doctors stated.
Patients have expressed frustration over the gap between government promises and the reality on the ground. Even after significant budget allocations, essential tablets and drugs remain unavailable at public hospitals, highlighting systemic challenges in healthcare delivery in the province.
