Security forces have killed 14 additional militants during a clearance operation in Sambaza, a subdivision of Zhob district, Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the ISPR, the militants were traced and neutralized during follow-up operations after an earlier engagement near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on the night of August 8–9. That initial operation had left 33 militants dead. With the latest action, the total number of militants killed in the two-day operation has risen to 47.
The ISPR stated that those killed were “operating under foreign sponsorship” and that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered during the clearance phase. “The Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies remain committed to keeping the country free from the scourge of terrorism,” the statement read.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, praised the security forces for “thwarting the infiltration attempt from across the Pak-Afghan border” and for “sacrificing their lives to foil the terrorists’ malicious designs.” He reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
