Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to bring Balochistan at par with other provinces in Pakistan’s development journey.
Speaking at a ceremony to send Pakistani students to China for agricultural training, the Prime Minister said merit would be the only criterion for selection. He announced that students from Balochistan would receive a larger share in training programs and the laptop scheme.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector, calling it the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. He stressed that growth would not be possible without adopting modern technology and innovations.
Shehbaz Sharif revealed that the first batch of 300 students had returned from China after completing training, while more students were being sent on merit. Several others are already undergoing training in China.
He praised China as a time-tested and trusted partner of Pakistan. He said Pakistan would benefit from China’s agricultural expertise to transfer modern technology for local use.
The Prime Minister described the students going to China as ambassadors of Pakistan. He said their hard work and knowledge would help the country overcome economic challenges.
According to him, Balochistan students have been given a 10 percent higher quota in the China training program based on their population ratio. Similarly, an additional quota will be allocated in the laptop scheme to ensure better opportunities for Baloch youth.
Shehbaz Sharif said the key to Pakistan’s progress lies in the hands of its youth. He vowed that with hard work and honesty, Pakistan would reach a stage where it would not need external loans but rely on its own resources.
He reaffirmed that merit, trust, and transparency would define future policies, ensuring sustainable development across the country.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador praised the Prime Minister’s focus on youth empowerment, comparing it to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision. He lauded Pakistan’s achievements under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, including economic stability and stronger foreign reserves.
The envoy reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in agriculture, economy, and other key sectors.
