QUETTA: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Quetta on Friday and held a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti before jointly chairing a high-level meeting on the province’s law and order situation.
The meeting reviewed the overall security situation in Balochistan, ongoing counterterrorism measures, and the government’s strategy to strengthen peace and stability across the province.
Chief Minister Bugti gave a detailed briefing on the current law and order situation, ongoing security operations, and future plans aimed at improving public safety and countering militant threats.
During the meeting, participants agreed to further enhance the professional capacity of the Balochistan Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and the provincial police force. Both sides also decided to accelerate the implementation of previously approved measures to strengthen policing across the province.
The Ministry of Interior assured the provincial government of its full cooperation in providing the resources required to improve the operational capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the federal government would continue extending every possible support to ensure lasting peace in Balochistan. He stressed that the immediate and effective implementation of a comprehensive security master plan was essential for restoring stability.
Naqvi also emphasized the need to benefit from the experience and professional advice of former Balochistan police chiefs while formulating future security policies. He said that modern technology, improved intelligence gathering, and coordinated planning were indispensable in the fight against terrorism.
“The federal and provincial governments are moving forward in complete unity and coordination to establish lasting peace,” Naqvi said, adding that strengthening security institutions remained a national priority.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to combating terrorism, saying security forces would remain proactive against militant groups.
“We will stay one step ahead in the fight against terrorism and will not succumb to any pressure,” Bugti said. He added that the writ of the state would be enforced at all costs and that no space would be left for terrorists in Balochistan.
The chief minister also highlighted the importance of investing in the province’s youth, saying the government was prioritizing education, vocational training, employment opportunities, and merit-based recruitment to restore public confidence and create equal opportunities for young people.
Bugti noted that peace, development, and prosperity were closely interconnected and pledged that the provincial government, with the support of the federal government, would accelerate both security initiatives and development projects throughout Balochistan.
Officials concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening coordination between the federal and provincial governments to improve law and order and ensure long-term peace in the province.
