CM Balochistan Announces Retabling of Mines and Minerals Act 2025 in Assembly

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister has announced that the Mines and Minerals Act 2025 will be reintroduced in the provincial assembly for debate following objections from political parties. The opposition leader welcomed the decision, calling it a positive step toward resolving concerns.

The Act has already been challenged in court by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), National Party (NP), Balochistan National Party (BNP), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), and others, alongside former Senator Lashkari Raisani.

Opposition parties strongly criticized the Act, alleging it shifts control of Balochistan’s mineral resources to the federal government and makes it harder for local communities to secure mining leases. They also argued that the inclusion of federal officers in the committee violates the 18th Constitutional Amendment, which grants provinces authority over their natural resources.
