Balochistan government announces dissolution of BEEF, forms committee to review funds and assets

The Balochistan government has issued a notification for the dissolution of the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF), directing a four-member committee to review the company’s assets, investments, financial records, liabilities and scholarship commitments.

The provincial Finance Department issued the formal notification on November 3, 2026, stating that the decision to dissolve BEEF had been taken on the instructions of the chief minister of Balochistan and with the approval of the chief secretary.

According to the notification, the committee will examine all financial and administrative matters related to BEEF, including its funds, investments, assets, outstanding liabilities and existing contractual obligations.

The committee will also review scholarship commitments and agreements made with students to assess the obligations that need to be fulfilled following the company’s dissolution.

Secretary of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has been appointed as the committee’s chairman, while the chief executive officer (CEO) of BEEF will serve as its member secretary.

The notification further directs the transfer of BEEF’s complete record and data management system to a newly established scholarship unit within the Finance Department.

It also recommends retaining between 10 and 15 technical employees of BEEF in the Finance Department to ensure the continuation of relevant technical and administrative functions.

The committee has been directed to examine the organisation’s financial position, including all funds and investments, and submit its report within 30 days.

The notification was issued under the signatures of Balochistan Finance Secretary Muhammad Jahangir Kakar.

The dissolution marks an administrative change in the province’s education scholarship framework. However, the notification does not specify how existing scholarship beneficiaries will be affected or what arrangements will be made to ensure the continuation of their financial support.

The review of scholarship agreements and student commitments is expected to clarify the government’s responsibilities towards existing beneficiaries as the scholarship system is transferred to the Finance Department.
