Nine Dead, Two Injured in Road Accident Near Uthal, Lasbela

Lasbela: A deadly road accident near Faqeera Stop in Uthal claimed nine lives and left two people injured on Thursday.

Rescue officials confirmed that the crash happened when a passenger coach rammed into two pickup vehicles. The impact killed nine passengers instantly. Two others suffered serious injuries.

Among the victims was a police constable. Another policeman received injuries and is now under medical treatment. Officials shifted the bodies and the injured to Civil Hospital Uthal and Civil Hospital Bela.

Passenger Coach on Quetta-Karachi Route

The passenger coach was traveling from Quetta to Karachi. Both pickup vehicles were moving in the opposite direction from Karachi to Khuzdar. The speeding coach lost control and collided head-on with the pickups.

Overspeeding Caused the Crash

Authorities said overspeeding caused the tragic accident. They added that the driver of the coach could not control the vehicle on the busy stretch of the highway. Road safety experts note that overspeeding and reckless driving remain the leading causes of deadly accidents in Lasbela district.

Policemen Among Victims

Sources confirmed that the deceased constable and the injured policeman had boarded one of the pickup vehicles from Uthal. They were heading toward Bela when the crash occurred. Their sudden deaths shocked fellow officers and the local community.

Frequent Accidents in Lasbela

Lasbela is known as one of Balochistan’s most dangerous districts for road accidents. The Quetta-Karachi highway passes through the area and sees heavy passenger and cargo traffic daily. Poor road conditions, overspeeding, and long travel hours often contribute to fatal crashes.

Locals demanded stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such incidents. They urged the government to install speed-monitoring cameras and set up more emergency response units along the highway.

Bodies Handed Over to Families

Rescue teams handed over the bodies of the deceased to their families after identification. The injured remain under treatment, and doctors described their condition as critical.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash. Police said they are trying to locate the driver of the passenger coach, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
