Balochistan Hit by 19 Suicide Attacks Since 2021: Over 130 Dead, 300 Injured

Balochistan has seen a disturbing rise in suicide attacks over the past four and a half years, with at least 19 such incidents reported between 2021 and July 2025. These attacks have claimed the lives of more than 130 people and injured over 300 others. Victims include security personnel, women, children, civilians, and political workers.

In 2021, a suicide bomber targeted Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in Quetta. The following year, 2022, saw two suicide attacks targeting police and other security forces.

The year 2023 proved to be particularly deadly. In one of the most devastating incidents, over 60 people were killed and dozens injured in a suicide bombing during a Milad-un-Nabi procession in Mastung.

In 2024, the frequency and severity of attacks escalated further. A major attack at the Quetta Railway Station resulted in 32 deaths. Additional suicide bombings were recorded in Pishin, Mashkay, and Machh during the same year.

In just the first six months of 2025, five suicide attacks have already taken place. The deadliest among them occurred on May 21 in Khuzdar, where a school bus was targeted, killing 11 people including children.

March 2025 alone witnessed three separate suicide attacks. The first occurred on March 3 in Kalat, where a female suicide bomber targeted an FC convoy, killing one personnel and injuring four others. On March 16, a vehicle-borne suicide bomb attack struck Noshki, killing five people—three FC personnel and two civilians—and injuring more than 35. On March 29, another attack occurred near a Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) long march in Mastung, though no casualties were reported in that incident.
