President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill 2025.
The authority will facilitate movement at border crossings. With this step, Pakistan becomes the third country in the region after India and Bangladesh to set up a land port authority.
The new authority will create a strong mechanism for coordination with border agencies. It will help improve trade facilitation and enhance the competitiveness of regional ports.
The authority will also play a role in fulfilling Pakistan’s commitments under international agreements. With the president’s approval, the bill has now become law.
