A suicide attack near Shahwani Stadium on Sariab Road in Quetta, killed 13 people and injured 31, according to Dr. Waseem Baig, Media Coordinator of the Health Department of Balochistan.
The injured and deceased have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta. Rescue and police teams rushed to the scene, and emergency medical care is underway.
The blast occurred shortly after a Balochistan National Party (BNP) gathering concluded, held to mark the fourth death anniversary of Sardar Attaullah Mengal. BNP leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal was unharmed.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the blast, directing hospitals to provide the best medical care. He also ordered air transport for critically injured victims to Karachi if required and emphasized the full mobilization of government resources for their treatment.
The provincial government has launched a high-level investigation and formed a committee to submit its report promptly.
