A powerful explosion struck the Jaffar Express near Spinzand, Dasht area of Mastung district, on Monday, according to railway officials.
The blast caused six coaches of the train to derail, while one of the bogies overturned due to the impact. Railway officials confirmed that at least five passengers sustained injuries in the incident.
Following the attack, rescue teams and emergency response units from Quetta were dispatched to the site. A relief train was also sent from Quetta to assist stranded passengers.
Railway officials said most passengers managed to leave the site on their own and continued their journey home with the help of locals.
Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams and personnel of law enforcement agencies also reached the scene and cordoned off the area. An investigation into the nature of the explosion has been launched.
The Jaffar Express was traveling from Peshawar to Quetta when it came under attack.
