Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Offers Bulletproof Vehicles to Balochistan After KP Rejection

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the bulletproof vehicles earlier rejected by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will now be handed over to the Balochistan government, following a request from Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

Chief Minister Bugti had earlier stated that if the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was unwilling to accept the vehicles, they should be transferred to Balochistan, which, like KP, remains one of the provinces most affected by terrorism and militan. If KP does not need them, Balochistan surely does. Our security personnel face similar threats every day,” Bugti said in his statement.

The decision comes amid ongoing discussions between the federal and provincial governments regarding the distribution of security resources and the needs of law enforcement agencies in conflict-affected regions.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two police officers were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Nushki district of Balochistan on Wednesday.

According to police officials, the attack took place near the Western Bypass area.of Nushki city. A police constable, Ghulam Muhammad, told reporters that the officers were on their way to the police lines for prisoner duty when they came under fire from unknown assailants in the Gharibabad area.

Both officers died on the spot. Their bodies were shifted to the Teaching Hospital Nushki for postmortem. The slain officers were identified as Abdul Razzaq and Obaidullah.

Police said the attackers fled the scene, taking the officers’ weapons with them. Nushki Police SHO Zahid Baloch confirmed that an investigation into the attack had been launched.

Nushki, located about135 kilometers east of Quetta, shares a border with Afghanistan to the north. The district has witnessed intermittent militant attacks and security incidents in recent years, particularly since the resurgence of unrest in parts of Balochistan.
