Child Health Screening Drive in Balochistan, 5,000 Students to Benefit Across Five Districts

In a significant step toward building a healthier and more educated generation, the Government of Balochistan has launched a large-scale Health Screening Programme for primary school students with the support of the European Union (EU) and UNICEF.

Under the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Durrani, the initiative is being carried out under the supervision of Secretary Education Balochistan Asfandyar Kakar and leadership of Director of School Education Akhtar Khetran. The programme aims to ensure the health and well-being of 5,000 students in five districts of the province.

The initiative began in Loralai, where the health screening of 1,000 students has been successfully completed. Eight schools, including two high schools’ primary sections, were selected for the first phase. Teams of ENT specialists, dentists, physicians, and other healthcare experts examined the students and provided medical guidance.

The next phase will begin in Noshki from Monday, where another 1,000 students will be screened. The campaign will later expand to Gwadar, Kech, and Lasbela, completing screenings of over 5,000 children in total.

Officials said the programme is designed not only to detect and address health issues early but also to raise awareness among children about personal hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare.

The Education Department of Balochistan has reaffirmed its resolve to continue introducing reforms and partnerships that ensure quality education and better health for every child in the province.
