Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has released its annual performance report for 2025, revealing that a total of 15,805 cases were disposed of during the year. According to the report, 11,108 cases were decided by single-member benches, while 4,697 cases were concluded by larger and division benches.
The data shows that Justice Inam Amin Minhas led the performance chart by disposing of 2,039 cases, securing the top position among all judges. He was followed by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan with 1,841 cases, while Justice Muhammad Asif secured third place with 1,338 case disposals.
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar disposed of 1,223 cases during the year, along with an additional 13 cases while serving as the Acting Chief Justice. Other judges who recorded notable performance include:
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani – 1,081 cases
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb – 107 cases
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri – 706 cases
Justice Babar Sattar – 387 cases
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan – 347 cases
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir – 812 cases
Justice Samam Riffat Imtiaz – 685 cases
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro – 529 cases
In the category of larger benches, the bench comprising Chief Justice, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, and Justice Azam Khan disposed of the highest number of cases, totaling 32. Several other larger benches concluded one case each, including panels involving Justice Inam Amin Minhas, Justice Azam Khan, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan.
Among division benches, the highest output came from the bench of Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, which disposed of 412 cases, primarily related to taxation matters. Meanwhile, the division bench headed by the Chief Justice alongside Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri decided two cases during the year.
The report highlights an improvement in case disposal rates, backlog clearance, and judicial efficiency, with expectations that further administrative measures will be introduced to continue improving performance in the coming year.
