The Government of Balochistan has imposed Section 144 across the province for a period of one month in view of the prevailing law and order situation, according to an official notification issued by the provincial Home Department.
Under the notification, a complete ban has been placed on the display and use of weapons throughout Balochistan. The order also prohibits pillion riding (double riding on motorcycles) as part of measures aimed at maintaining public safety and preventing untoward incidents.
The Home Department stated that vehicles with tinted or black windows, unregistered vehicles, and the covering of faces in public places have also been banned under Section 144. In addition, gatherings, processions, and assemblies involving five or more people will not be allowed during the enforcement period.
According to the notification, these restrictions have come into effect immediately and will remain enforced for one month. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found violating the imposed restrictions.
The provincial government said the decision was taken as a preventive measure to ensure peace and stability across the province. Officials emphasized that such steps are necessary to deter potential security threats and to assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining order.
Section 144 is a legal provision that allows district administrations to impose temporary restrictions in situations where there is a threat to public peace or safety. It has previously been enforced in various parts of the country during sensitive security situations.
Residents have been advised to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and adhere to the imposed restrictions for their own safety. The government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public life and property, stating that the measures are solely aimed at ensuring law and order across Balochistan.
