12 killed, 22 injured in explosion at imambargah gate in Islamabad’s Tarlai area

Islamabad: At least 12 people were killed and 22 others injured after a powerful explosion struck the gate of an Imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area on Tuesday, officials and rescue sources confirmed.

According to initial reports, the blast occurred at the main gate of the Imambargah, causing widespread panic in the area. Police, law enforcement agencies, and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the explosion.

Rescue officials said the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals through ambulances. Following the incident, an emergency was imposed across Islamabad on the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Authorities also declared an emergency at major hospitals in the capital, including Polyclinic Hospital, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and CDA Hospital, to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured.

Videos circulating on social media show victims thrown several meters away from the blast site, indicating the intensity of the explosion. Security forces have cordoned off the area, while bomb disposal and investigation teams are examining the scene to determine the nature of the blast.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigations are ongoing, and officials said further details would be shared as they emerge.
