Islamabad: An explosion has been reported at Masjid Khadijat-ul-Kubra Imambargah in Tarlai Kalan, Islamabad, triggering an immediate security response, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the blast occurred within the premises of the Imambargah, causing panic in the surrounding area. Police and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site, while ambulances rushed to provide emergency assistance.
Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad imposed an emergency across the federal capital, directing all law enforcement and emergency services to remain on high alert.
Security forces have cordoned off the affected area, and access has been restricted as bomb disposal and investigation teams assess the situation. Authorities have not yet confirmed casualties or the nature of the explosion.
Hospitals in Islamabad have also been placed on alert as a precautionary measure. Officials said further details would be shared after completion of the initial assessment.
