A coal mine worker was killed and four others were injured after unidentified attackers hurled a hand grenade at laborers working at a coal mine in Chaman, Balochistan, on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, five mine workers were carrying out their duties at the coal mine when unidentified assailants targeted them with a hand grenade. The explosion left all five workers seriously injured.
Rescue teams and local residents rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors began emergency treatment. Hospital officials later confirmed that one of the injured workers succumbed to his wounds despite medical efforts.
The deceased was identified as Nasruddin, 38, son of Alam Din, a resident of Kashmore district in Sindh. His body has been shifted for legal formalities before being handed over to his family.
The four other injured workers remain under medical care. Hospital authorities said they are receiving treatment, while their condition is being monitored.
Following the attack, security personnel reached the coal mine and cordoned off the area. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
Officials have not yet confirmed the motive behind the attack, and no group has claimed responsibility.
