ISLAMABAD: Members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a protest in the National Assembly on Monday, chanting slogans for the release of party founder Imran Khan and against a proposed military operation.
According to Dawn News, the session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, began with PTI leader Asad Qaiser requesting to speak on a point of order. However, the Speaker denied him the floor and continued with the Question Hour, prompting PTI lawmakers to launch their protest inside the House.
During the commotion, opposition members surrounded the Speaker’s dais, tore up copies of the session agenda, and chanted slogans such as “Release Imran Khan” and “Military operation not acceptable.”
Later, PTI lawmakers staged a sit-in outside the National Assembly building, continuing their slogans in support of Imran Khan’s release and judicial independence.
