LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to introduce major changes in the upcoming 2025-26 central contracts, with the biggest reshuffle likely in the Category D list of players.
According to sources, several players are set to lose their central contracts while a number of fresh faces are expected to make the cut. The process of consultation between coaches, the Director of High Performance, the finance department, and the international cricket department is in its final stages.
Insiders revealed that some cricketers will be awarded central contracts for the first time, while those no longer part of any format are almost certain to be dropped.
Among the likely inclusions are Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sufiyan Muqeem, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Fakhar Zaman.
In addition, names such as Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, and Sahibzada Farhan are under consideration, with a possibility of being added. However, it will be difficult for Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Huraira, Haseebullah Usman Khan, and Mohammad Ali to secure places in the new contracts.
Sources further disclosed that this is the final year of the PCB’s three-year financial model for central contracts. The official announcement will be made once Chairman Mohsin Naqvi grants his approval.
