ISLAMABAD: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his sorrow and condolences to Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari over the recent devastating floods in the country. In a letter, President Putin conveyed his grief over the loss of precious lives, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and extended sympathies to the families of the deceased. He also wished a speedy recovery for those injured and offered his best wishes to affected families.
Meanwhile, Iran and Saudi Arabia have also expressed deep regret over the loss of lives due to the floods. Iranian authorities offered assistance for relief efforts and pledged full support to ease the suffering of the affected population. The Iranian President prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
Similarly, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan, affirming that Saudi Arabia stands with Pakistan in this difficult time. The statement also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayers for the recovery of the injured.
According to official reports, the recent heavy rains, floods, and landslides across Pakistan have resulted in 344 deaths and 148 injuries.
