QUETTA – The Government of Balochistan has extended the enforcement of Section 144 for another 15 days across the province due to security concerns.
According to the official notification, during the enforcement of Section 144, pillion riding on motorcycles will remain banned, along with covering of faces while riding. Gatherings of more than five people at one place are also prohibited. The restrictions will remain in effect until August 31.
The government clarified that this extension will be in force from August 16 to August 30. Earlier, Section 144 had already been imposed from August 1 to August 15.

On August 13, the provincial government also imposed a ban on the nighttime movement of public transport vehicles across Balochistan. Public transport is not allowed to operate on provincial highways between 5 PM and 5 AM. Companies violating this order will have their route permits revoked.
The decision regarding public transport restrictions was taken in a meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar on Tuesday.
