QUETTA: An audit report has uncovered financial irregularities worth Rs3.41 billion in the Balochistan Local Government Department.
The report says the department spent over Rs290 million without justification. It also made unauthorized expenditures of Rs700 million. Audit officials added that the department failed to provide records of Rs37.6 million.
The Public Accounts Committee has received the document for review. According to the findings, the department did not collect Rs792.9 million in revenue last fiscal year.
The audit further notes that the department suffered a loss of Rs774.9 million by not revising rents of its assets. It also highlights misuse of funds amounting to Rs25.3 million.
