Quetta Police Launch Crackdown on Unregistered Motorcycles

Quetta police have launched a strict crackdown on unregistered motorcycles to curb rising street crime. SSP Operations and SSP Traffic held a joint press conference on Wednesday and announced new measures.

SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch said that almost 90 percent of crimes in Quetta are committed using motorcycles. He noted that during a single checkpoint inspection, police found more than 300 motorcycles without number plates.

He declared that unregistered motorcycles will no longer be allowed on the roads of Quetta. Every citizen must register their motorcycle either in their own name or in the name of a family member.

Baloch added that voucher holders must register their motorcycles within 15 days. The Excise Department will conduct joint registration with franchise dealers and owners to speed up the process.

He said police recovered over Rs7.8 million in fines from motorcycle violations in just one month. More than 6,000 motorcycles were penalized during this period.

Baloch stressed that all citizens must fix number plates on both the front and rear of their motorcycles. He directed owners to keep registration documents and produce them at police stations within four hours if required. Failure to do so, he warned, would result in legal action.

The SSP said the campaign’s one-point agenda is to give citizens a clear message: no unregistered motorcycles will be allowed in Quetta. He urged residents to cooperate with the police and help reduce crime in the city.

Authorities believe this campaign will significantly reduce street crime and improve public safety. Police also aim to streamline vehicle records through strict enforcement.

The Quetta police appealed to the public to support the initiative, stressing that collective responsibility is key to making the city safer.
