Pink Buses for Women in Quetta, Green Buses to Start in Turbat Soon

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has purchased new buses to expand its public transport network. The plan introduces pink buses in Quetta for women and green buses in Turbat for the first time.

Provincial Secretary for Transport Muhammad Hayat Kakar confirmed the purchase of 21 buses under the initiative. Quetta will receive 17 buses, including five pink buses reserved for women. Turbat will receive four green buses.

He said the pink buses will provide women with safe, comfortable, and dignified travel. He added that the inspection and shipment of the buses are complete. The government will launch the services very soon.

The green bus service already operates in Quetta under the Balochistan Public-Private Partnership Program since 2023. Currently, eight buses run from Balochistan University to Baleli. With the new fleet, Quetta will operate 20 green buses and five pink buses across different routes.

The service carried about 11,000 passengers daily in its early phase. Officials expect the expansion to raise daily ridership to 40,000–50,000 passengers.

The project marks the province’s first exclusive transport service for women and extends modern bus facilities to Turbat. Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to safe and efficient urban mobility.
