Three Miners Die in Degari Coal Mine Accident Near Quetta

Quetta: A tragic incident in Balochistan’s Degari coal mine near Mach claimed the lives of three miners after toxic gas filled the underground site.

Local sources said the miners were working underground when poisonous gas suddenly accumulated inside the shaft. The workers suffocated and died on the spot.

Rescue teams and local administration rushed to the site immediately after the accident. Officials confirmed that all three bodies had been recovered from the mine.

According to reports, one victim belonged to Hazara Town in Quetta, while the other two were residents of Alamdar Road, Marriabad.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the gas leak, but initial reports suggest the mine lacked proper ventilation.

Coal mining accidents remain a recurring hazard in Balochistan, where thousands of miners work in difficult and often unsafe conditions. The Degari coalfield has witnessed several similar incidents in the past.

Local officials said an investigation would determine the circumstances that led to the fatal gas build-up.

The latest tragedy once again highlights the urgent need for stricter safety measures in Balochistan’s mining sector.
