Quetta: Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Balochistan, Hamza Shafqat, along with SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch and DIG Crime Farhan Zahid, held a press conference on the deadly suicide blast on Sariab Road in Quetta.
Shafqat confirmed, “Fifteen people were killed and 38 others injured in the attack, which occurred after the BNP gathering had ended.” He added that the attacker, whose remains have been recovered, was under 30 years old and had used 8 kilograms of explosives.
He highlighted relief measures: “The Chief Minister of Balochistan has announced Rs 1.5 million compensation per deceased victim and Rs 500,000 for the injured.”
Regarding security, Shafqat noted, “120 police personnel were deployed at the gathering. Political parties had been briefed on security threats, especially during 12th Rabi-ul-Awal. Following this incident, rallies and processions after Maghrib prayers will not be allowed.”
He further emphasized, “The blast took place approximately 500 meters from the gathering site. Terrorist organizations are trying to harm Pakistan after the victory of truth.”
