Israel carried out airstrikes in Doha on Tuesday, targeting senior Hamas leaders, according to Israeli officials. Explosions were reported in the Katara District, with smoke rising near residential areas guarded by Qatari forces.Qatar strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly violation of sovereignty and international law.”
The Foreign Ministry said investigations were underway and vowed not to tolerate such “reckless behaviour.”A Hamas source told Al Jazeera that leaders survived the strike, which occurred during discussions on a proposed Gaza ceasefire.
Iran and Palestinian group Islamic Jihad also denounced the attack, while Israel’s far-right ministers praised it.The US embassy in Doha advised citizens to shelter in place. Washington has yet to issue an official statement, though President Trump is expected to comment soon.
The attack comes amid escalating Israeli assaults on Gaza, where over 64,000 Palestinians have been killed during nearly two years of conflicts.
