Mustansar Bilal, the son of AC Ziarat, was released by unidentified abductors late Thursday night in the Harnai mountains. After his recovery, authorities facilitated his contact with family members, bringing relief to the worried household.
Levies officials said that in his initial statement, Mustansar Bilal expressed ignorance about the whereabouts of his father, Muhammad Afzal, who remains missing. It may be recalled that on August 10, Assistant Commissioner Ziarat Muhammad Afzal and his son were abducted at gunpoint from the Zizri area of Ziarat district.
The Levies Force and other security agencies are still conducting extensive search operations to locate and rescue the missing officer.According to officials, armed men surrounded the family when AC Afzal was on a picnic with his relatives.
The kidnappers left other family members behind and took the Assistant Commissioner and his son with them. Later, they set his official vehicle on fire, while the gunman and driver were freed nearby.Following the incident, security forces and local administration launched a large-scale search operation in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Zakaullah Durani said that the kidnapping had deeply alarmed authorities, noting that a similar incident had occurred in June when Assistant Commissioner Tump, Muhammad Hanif Noorzai, was abducted under comparable circumstances.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to recovering AC Muhammad Afzal, while investigations continue into the identity and motive of the kidnappers
