After a four-day suspension caused by heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the repatriation of Afghan refugees has resumed through the Chaman crossing in Balochistan.According to Assistant Commissioner Chaman Imtiaz Buzdar, Afghan refugees who had been stranded at the border have now been allowed to cross back into Afghanistan as a gesture of goodwill.
He said the ongoing repatriation process is being conducted under the Chaman Master Plan, which is designed to ensure the safe, dignified, and organized return of Afghan nationals to their home country.
Authorities confirmed that while humanitarian movement has been permitted to facilitate refugee return, the border remains sealed for all other types of movement and trade due to prevailing security concerns.
Assistant Commissioner Buzdar further noted that approximately 130,000 Afghan refugees have so far returned to Afghanistan through the Chaman border since the launch of the repatriation drive.
Officials emphasized that the government remains committed to managing the process in an orderly manner, ensuring that all returning refugees receive the necessary support and assistance during their journey home.
