The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued an alert in view of an expected spell of adverse weather conditions across the province.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, various areas of Balochistan are likely to experience rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous regions from December 29 to January 1. The weather system is expected to affect both highland and plain areas, potentially disrupting normal life.
The Meteorological Department stated that snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, and other mountainous areas, while heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in the plains. Following the rain and snowfall, a significant drop in temperature is also anticipated across the province.
PDMA Balochistan has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the period of rain and snowfall. Tourists have been specifically urged to take precautionary measures, particularly while traveling to hilly and snow-prone areas.
The authority has also issued guidelines for farmers, advising them to plan agricultural activities in accordance with the prevailing weather conditions to minimize potential losses to crops.In addition, PDMA stated that arrangements are being made to shift people to safe locations in case of any emergency.
All relevant district administrations have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure timely preparedness measures to effectively respond to any untoward situation.
PDMA Balochistan reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to cooperate with authorities and follow safety advisories during the expected spell of bad weather.
