Dhaka: Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, during an informal interaction in Dhaka.
The meeting took place at the residence of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.According to sources present at the venue, Jaishankar walked over to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and initiated the exchange with a handshake.
The Speaker responded warmly with a smile, and the two briefly inquired about each other’s well-being.The interaction lasted a few minutes, during which welcoming remarks were exchanged.
This marks the first face-to-face encounter between senior leaders of Pakistan and India at such a level since the post-war period, making the moment notable in the context of strained bilateral relations.
