Quetta: Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Balochistan Bar Council, Rahib Khan Baloch Advocate, has strongly criticized the provincial government for what he described as harassment of the Balochistan Grand Alliance, instead of addressing its legitimate demands.
In an official statement, Rahib Khan Baloch said that attempting to intimidate employees rather than engaging in dialogue is highly condemnable. He emphasized that peaceful protest is a fundamental right of every citizen, while freedom of expression is clearly guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan.
The chairman stated that employees across the province are raising genuine and lawful demands, but the government is responding with pressure tactics rather than solutions. He demanded an immediate end to all forms of retaliatory actions against employees, warning that such measures would only worsen the situation.
Rahib Khan Baloch Advocate made it clear that if any retaliatory action is taken against employees for exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest, the Balochistan Bar Council will stand firmly with the employees. He stressed that suppression through force cannot crush any democratic movement and that coercive methods have historically failed to resolve public issues.
He further said that the government should immediately accept the legitimate demands of employees and initiate serious negotiations with the Balochistan Grand Alliance to find a peaceful and sustainable solution. According to him, dialogue is the only effective way to maintain stability, protect democratic values, and ensure good governance in the province.
The Balochistan Bar Council chairman reiterated that the legal community will not remain silent in the face of constitutional violations and will continue to raise its voice for the protection of fundamental rights. He added that ignoring employees’ grievances could lead to further unrest, which would not be in the interest of the province.
The statement comes amid ongoing protests by government employees under the platform of the Balochistan Grand Alliance, demanding acceptance of their long-standing demands. Legal observers believe that the Bar Council’s stance adds significant pressure on the provincial government to revisit its approach and move toward negotiations.
