Quetta: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has conducted a raid on a house in Zhob district and recovered a large cache of explosives, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the raid was carried out on intelligence-based information indicating the presence of explosive material at a residential property in the area. During the operation, CTD personnel recovered 35 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along with three suicide jackets concealed inside the house.
The spokesperson said the explosive material had been hidden for use in acts of sabotage, posing a serious threat to public safety and security. The recovery of such a large quantity of explosives indicates that a major terrorist activity may have been planned, which was thwarted due to timely action by the CTD.
Officials further stated that the recovered explosives and suicide vests were taken into custody for forensic examination, while investigations have been launched to identify those involved in storing and planning the use of the material. No arrests were immediately reported, however, efforts are underway to trace the network linked to the cache.
The CTD reiterated its commitment to eliminating terrorism and preventing subversive activities in Balochistan, adding that intelligence-based operations will continue across the province to ensure law and order.
Security has been tightened in the surrounding areas following the raid, while further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
