Chaman, Balochistan: One police personnel was killed when a polio vaccination team came under fire in the Janan Abad area of Roghani in Chaman district on Friday, police said.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Chaman Abdullah Imran Cheema, unidentified assailants opened fire on the polio team, resulting in the death of a policeman deployed for security. The attackers managed to escape from the area after the incident.
Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those involved. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
Pakistan has faced repeated security challenges during polio vaccination campaigns, particularly in sensitive districts, where vaccination teams are often provided police protection.
