At least six members of the same family, including a woman and young children, were killed and three others injured after unidentified assailants targeted a residential house with a mortar shell and gunfire in the Minaz area of Buleda tehsil, police sources said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Minaz, a locality of Buleda tehsil near Turbat, where attackers reportedly fired multiple rounds and lobbed a mortar at the house, causing severe damage and casualties. Police confirmed that the deceased included minors, underscoring the brutality of the assault.
Rescue teams and local residents rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities for emergency treatment. Hospital officials said the wounded are receiving care, while authorities have not yet released details about their condition.
Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest those responsible. Checkpoints were set up and patrols intensified across surrounding villages to prevent the suspects’ escape, according to officials.
Police said investigations are under way to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
The attack has heightened concerns over security in parts of Balochistan, where sporadic incidents have targeted civilians. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and assured that those involved would be brought to justice.
Residents of the area expressed grief and shock over the loss of innocent lives, particularly children, and called for stronger measures to protect civilians in remote regions of Pakistan.
