Quetta: On the special instructions of Imran Shaukat, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Quetta, police successfully solved a blind murder case involving the killing of an elderly Christian woman in the Bashirabad area of the city.
According to police officials, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Zarghoonabad Police Station, where an 80–81-year-old Christian woman, identified as Miss Marta Bhatti, daughter of Hidayat M. Bhatti, was found murdered inside her home.
Police said the investigation relied heavily on CCTV footage and technical analysis, which helped identify Nawaz Masih as the main suspect in the case. Following continuous surveillance and monitoring, the accused was arrested from his residence.
Senior Superintendent of Police Asif Khan stated that during interrogation the suspect confessed to committing the murder. According to the confession, the accused strangled the victim with a rope and stole cash and gold jewelry from the house.
Acting on the suspect’s identification, police recovered Rs100,000 in cash, gold jewelry, and the rope used in the murder. The items were recovered from a room located at a health office on New Link Road in Satellite Town, where the accused was reportedly working as a sanitation worker.
Police officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
