Islamabad: Turkish Member of Parliament Ali Şahin has praised Pakistan’s successful diplomatic role in easing rising tensions between Iran and Israel, calling it a landmark moment for global peace efforts. He said the situation, intensified by the involvement of the United States, had the potential to escalate into a major international crisis, but Pakistan’s intervention helped prevent further deterioration.
Şahin said history remembers those who stop wars rather than those who start them, adding that this time Pakistan had taken on that vital role.
“History does not always remember those who wage wars, but often those who prevent them. This time, that role belongs to Pakistan,” he remarked.
The Turkish MP said Pakistan had emerged as a key architect in ceasefire efforts between the United States and Iran, describing the achievement as “immensely valuable.” According to him, Pakistan has always played a responsible part in promoting peace across the Gulf, the Middle East, and South Asia.
He also underlined the significance of cordial ties between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and former U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that these relations contributed to the diplomatic breakthrough.
Şahin said Islamabad could evolve into a future global center for peace diplomacy.
“In the coming years, Islamabad could emerge as a global center for peace, where conflicts are resolved and ceasefire agreements are negotiated,” he added.
He highlighted Pakistan’s growing cooperation with Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, calling it a sign of a new regional security framework taking shape. He congratulated the people of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and General Asim Munir for what he termed a “historic initiative,” expressing hope that these efforts would support long-term peace in the Middle East and beyond.
