Quetta traffic police collect Rs11.64 million in fines over two months

QUETTA: Traffic police in Quetta have intensified a crackdown on underage drivers, motorists without driving licences and vehicles lacking required documents, collecting Rs11.64 million in fines over the past two months, according to the Balochistan Police.

A police spokesperson said on Thursday that authorities collected Rs11,648,700 in fines for violations of traffic laws during the two-month period.

The spokesperson added that 9,607 driving licences were issued to citizens after they fulfilled all the required rules and regulations.

Traffic police have continued strict action against underage motorcyclists and people driving cars and motorcycles without valid driving licences. Authorities are also taking action against illegal parking and driving in the wrong direction.

The Balochistan Police said underage driving posed a serious threat to both young drivers and other road users. The department stressed that strict enforcement of traffic laws was necessary to prevent road accidents and protect citizens’ lives and property.

The police have urged parents not to allow underage children to ride motorcycles or drive vehicles. They said parental supervision and public cooperation were essential to improving road safety and preventing accidents.

The spokesperson said providing a safe travelling environment in Quetta remained a priority for the Balochistan Police. The department is continuing a special campaign to improve traffic discipline and make enforcement against traffic violations more effective.

The police said fines and legal action would continue against those violating traffic regulations. They urged citizens to follow traffic rules to avoid penalties and help ensure safer roads across the provincial capital.

The department also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards unlicensed driving and underage motorcyclists.

The Balochistan Police said public cooperation was essential to preventing road accidents and creating a safer travelling environment. Citizens have been advised to carry valid driving licences, keep the required vehicle documents and comply with traffic regulations.
